Walking on Walls, Planes & floor of the Forest: We performed these 3 works from the early 1970’s reflecting the economic environment of that time over a 3-month period. A collaboration between dance and visual art.

Dharmakaya: A PhD performance that came from a research in how meditation can influence creative expression during a devising process, and be a crucial part in the presence of the performer both on and off stage.

AS MAKER:

2011                 Meadow – commissioned by Arts Council England & Stoke-on-Trent City Council
An inter-generational piece performed by a mixture of non-dancers and dancers. Stoke-on-Trent is going through a huge regeneration process at present, affecting residents in many ways. We looked at the themes of re-location, re-building, group support, rejection, and rehoused these images in the disused pottery factory site The Spode. 2009                 Both Perhaps PresentCommissioned by the EU
Toured in Ghent, Brussels, Hamburg & London, this movement analysis/performance was created during a 10-week European residency. Studying the works of Jonathon Burrows and Anna Teresa de Keersmaker, I used this residency to explore and refine methodologies used in my practice.

2008                 The Space Outside (installation) – Final dissertation presentation
Toured in London (Laban & Siobhan Davies Studios), Brussels (Event for Collectif Bourborygme) & Lithuania (New/Now Festival). Stemming from a research in to the effects of the chair on the spine, this installation explores themes of power and hierarchy of architecture and design on the unconscious body.

Showcasing emerging artists I curated a 3-day event for national &international independent artists, consisting of workshops, discussions and presentations, focusing on ‘autonomy of the artist’ – how can independent artists create their own working conditions and visibility in a non-funded environment?

2010                2 Exhibitions for Collectif-Borbyrgme - Belgium
A collection of dance, video and visual art, exhibited at a self-funded collective studios in Brussels.

2005-2008       Co-organiser of New Choreograph Showcase, - Laban. UK
An independently organised 3-day platform showing student works from 5 main schools in the UK. The idea was to break down barriers between the schools to encourage more collaboration and sharing of different styles.
